“Alexander Mitchell Public library dates back to 1901.”

Alexander Mitchell Public library dates back to 1901.

It was named after the late friend of Andrew Carnegie.

He opted for his friend’s name in his memory after donating $15, 000 to finance the construction back.

However, the move to a new library building for the Aberdeen community was conceived and the groundbreaking event took place in May 2016.

The name Alexander Mitchell has been retired afterward and replaced by K.O Lee who pledged to donate $900,000 towards the new construction. It is now K.O Lee Aberdeen Public Library.

The major purpose of the new library targets at providing services and resources in a wide range of media to meet groups and individual needs for information, education and personal development.
